**A Day in History:**
On this day in 1898, three local leaders—Aaron McDuffie Moore, John Merrick, and C.C. Spaulding—founded the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company. Beyond providing extensive life insurance policies, the company became an economic powerhouse for the area that would later be known as “Black Wall Street.” Eventually renamed NC Mutual, the company served as an inspiration for Black insurance companies across the nation.
**In history, between 1948 and 1951, another visionary—Aaron A. McCrae Sr., a husband, and father—decided to become a life insurance agent for North Carolina Mutual. His goal was to prepare and protect his family against life's challenges. With God's help, he persevered, applying the knowledge he gained from his military background in bookkeeping and accounting. He utilized insurance to safeguard his wife whenever he made significant purchases, ensuring that any burdens would not fall upon her. Additionally, he used life insurance to help fund his granddaughters' college education and to place his wife in a secure position when God eventually called him home.**.
**As of November 1998, his daughter Jacqueline followed in his footsteps by becoming a licensed insurance agent and establishing Re-turn Insurance Service Group. His other daughter, Denise, inherited his talent for accounting and bookkeeping. Meanwhile, his other two children, Aaron Jr. and Cynthia embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, positively impacting lives around the world.
