Quick PSA before tax season gets loud and busy… 🗣️
Let’s clear something up RIGHT NOW about tax advances, because this trips folks up every single year.
👉🏽 Applying for a tax advance = filing your tax return.
There is no shortcut, no trial run, no “let me see if I qualify first.”
The SECOND your tax pro submits that advance request, your return is sent to the IRS and placed in line waiting to be accepted.
So here’s the truth 👇🏽
📌 If your advance is approved — you filed.
📌 If your advance is denied — you STILL filed.
There’s no undo button. Once it’s submitted, it’s in the system.
The BANK decides based on things like:
• prior advance history
• whether old advances were paid back
• IRS issues tied to your SSN
• refund amount
• their own risk scoring
Switching tax pros won’t override the bank’s decision. Period.
Hopping from preparer to preparer doesn’t increase your chances — it just delays your REAL refund and creates confusion.
