As our country celebrates its 250th anniversary, students, faculty, staff and parents recently had the opportunity to tour the “Out of Many, One” VA250 Mobile Museum, which highlights Virginia’s central role in the American Revolution, its essential contributions to our nation’s early history and its ongoing pursuit of a more perfect union.

The cutting-edge, immersive and hands-on exhibition is housed within a custom-built 53-foot expandable tractor-trailer, which was parked at the Main Campus for two days. During that time, students from both campuses viewed the museum’s high-tech displays and interactive exhibits while learning about pivotal events, groundbreaking ideas and diverse individuals who shaped America in its earliest days.

In the spirit of this historic event, our students filled our campuses with their best red, white and blue attire. Some of our administrators took it a step further. Head of School Mike Barclay dressed up as lifelong Virginian and our nation’s first president, George Washington, and Head of Middle School Michelle Horton ’89 portrayed Betsy Ross, the Philadelphia seamstress and upholsterer credited with designing and sewing the first American flag.

Special thanks to TowneBank, which shared the Mobile Museum experience with NSA families through its sponsorship of Virginia’s American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250). Established by the Virginia General Assembly, VA250 is the official group leading the commonwealth’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of American independence and Virginia’s role in the founding of our nation.

South Carolina, WE’RE HOME! 💙🎉
Not only did we have the honor of attending the Greenville Senior High School digital scoreboard dedication ceremony on Friday, but we also have the honor of being the title sponsor for this meaningful addition to the Raiders’ home field. This moment marked an important step in our entry into South Carolina through our partnership with Dogwood State Bank. We feel fortunate to help make something so important to our new neighbors in Greenville possible.

Our South Carolina President, David Lominack, and his team were joined by the Lawson Family, for whom the field is named, and other community leaders to celebrate the occasion. Cheers to the wonderful football season ahead and new beginnings!

What a treat it was to have United Way of South Hampton Roads join us for breakfast on our Suffolk campus this week! We do not take for granted the opportunity to serve our hometown through partnerships like this one.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of attending TowneBank's Annual Campaign Breakfast at their TowneBank Member Service Center, Suffolk Campus!

We're incredibly thankful for TowneBank's leadership, as they surpassed their campaign goal last year, raising over 1 million dollars for our organization through employee giving, sponsorships, and corporate donations ✨

💰🏦 YCP REWIND & RECAP: BANKING ON THEIR FUTURE!

A summer of career readiness would not be complete without talking about one of the most important tools our young people will need as they enter adulthood: MONEY! 💵

A huge thank you to our friends at TowneBank Bank for inviting the YCP interns from the Newport News Commissioner of the Revenue Office and the Newport News Treasurer's Office in for an engaging lesson in financial literacy, banking, career readiness, and preparing for their financial futures.

For some of our interns, this was their very first time stepping inside a bank, which made this experience even more meaningful. 💙

The TowneBank team helped our students understand some of the financial decisions they will soon begin making for themselves, including budgeting, managing their money responsibly, understanding banking services, and recognizing common financial pitfalls young adults should work to avoid.

Our interns who were interested also received assistance with taking an important first step toward financial independence by opening their own bank accounts! 💳💰

But the learning did not stop with dollars and cents.

The TowneBank team also introduced our students to careers and internship opportunities within the banking industry and talked with them about how to represent themselves well to employers, customers, and the public. From professionalism and first impressions to communication and workplace expectations, our interns received advice they can carry into any career they choose.

That combination is exactly what we want our Youth Career Program to provide: practical knowledge for the lives our students are building AND exposure to career possibilities they may not have considered before.

Financial literacy is a life skill, and having trusted professionals willing to make those lessons approachable for young people can make a lasting difference.

We're overjoyed to celebrate 10 of our family members who graduated from the Mid-Atlantic School of Bank Management through the Virginia Bankers Association last week. Their dedication to advancing their banking knowledge, leadership skills, and industry expertise reflects the commitment to excellence that drives our organization forward.

A special congratulations to Steven Cuddy, Wards Corner Branch Manager, who graduated at the top of his class and was named the Honor Graduate for the class of 2026. We applaud the hard work and determination of all our graduates and look forward to seeing the impact they'll make with their newfound knowledge and experience. 👏
