Today we lost an American treasure whose words, music, kindness and unmistakable spirit touched generations.

This particular Dolly-ism has always felt especially meaningful to us here in Florida. We know a thing or two about weathering storms — and about the strength of the people and communities who come together afterward.

To me, insurance should be personal.

I believe you should know who your insurance agent is. You should be able to pick up the phone and talk to a real person who knows your name, understands your situation, and is willing to take the time to explain your options.

I also believe our job is about much more than finding a price.

Our job is to educate.

You should understand what you're buying, what your policy covers, where your risks are, and why we're making the recommendations we make. Sometimes that means finding a better option. Sometimes it means telling you that the policy you already have is the one I'd keep. And sometimes it means having an honest conversation about a coverage gap that you may not have known was there.

That's the kind of insurance agency I believe in, and it's the kind of agency my mom and I set out to build with S & J Insurance Group.

We're independent. We're local. We live and work in the same communities as the people we insure, and we care about being here for the long haul.

Insurance may be what we sell, but trust, education and service are what I want us to be known for.

Tonight, S & J Insurance Group was proud to sponsor the FAIA Young Agents Council’s Smart Start 4 Kids school supply fundraiser.

As a local, family-owned agency, we believe supporting our community goes far beyond helping families protect their homes, businesses, and vehicles. It’s also about investing in the next generation and helping local students start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

A huge thank you to the FAIA Young Agents Council, the sponsors, and everyone who attended and contributed to such a great cause. It was wonderful connecting with fellow insurance professionals while supporting local children.
