Recently I had the opportunity to speak about finances at Western Reserve High School. We discussed budgets, home ownership, lending, investments, and college funding. Specifically discussing the importance of owning assets that appreciate and not depreciate. At their age an extra $100 saved can go a long way with compound interest. We fielded a WIDE variety of questions. Students need to know these things because it will impact their daily lives. This is not always taught in classrooms. The sooner they understand, the more likely they will be financially independent. Really enjoyed spending the day with them. One young man in particular will be doing some job shadowing in my office. Shoutout to their teacher Mr. TJ Eden, and the administration for having me in.
