🔹 The current 50‑star flag was designed by a 17‑year‑old student, Robert G. Heft, in 1958. His class project became the official design in 1960.

🔹 The United States has had 27 official flag versions, most updated as new states were added. Each change marks another chapter in the nation’s growth.

🔹 The colors of the flag carry meaning: red for hardiness and valor, white for purity, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

🔹 Six American flags rest on the moon, placed there by Apollo astronauts starting with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.

🔹 Our current design has lasted the longest, unchanged since Hawaii became a state in 1959.
