Back-to-school season is here, and it’s a great time to talk to your kids about getting to school safely—no matter how they travel. Our team at Lindley & Johnson Insurance Group, LLC put together a few reminders to help keep everyone safe on the way to and from school.
Walking to school?
• Use sidewalks when available
• Cross at crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers
• Walk with a group when possible
Riding a bike?
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet
• Ride on the right side of the road with traffic
• Stop fully before crossing and choose low-traffic routes
Taking the bus?
• Stand at least 6 feet from the curb
• Wait for a complete stop before boarding
• Avoid walking behind or directly in front of the bus without eye contact with the driver
Getting dropped off?
• Follow school zone speed limits
• Stick to the school’s designated drop-off procedure
• Never pass a bus that’s loading or unloading
Teen drivers?
• Seatbelts for everyone
• Phones and devices put away
• Obey posted speed limits
