Our Farmville Branch hosted a Senior Fraud Awareness Event, bringing together local customers for an afternoon focused on protecting themselves from scams and fraud.

Guests shared personal stories and experiences, participated in fun awareness games, and learned practical ways to protect their finances and their future. We’re proud to empower our customers with the knowledge and tools they need to stay financially safe.

This week, we’re shining our Board Member Spotlight on new board member, Shantelle Crouch, Vice President and Consumer Services Manager for First Bank!

Shantelle has built an impressive 18-year career in banking, beginning with Bank of Fincastle in 2008 and continuing with First Bank following its acquisition in 2021. Today, she oversees consumer banking operations and leadership across multiple locations and is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia’s School of Bank Management.

At the heart of Shantelle’s work, both professionally and in the community, is a passion for building relationships, serving others, and helping individuals and businesses succeed. That commitment to service makes her a wonderful asset to the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and to our greater Botetourt community.

When she’s not at the bank or volunteering, you might find Shantelle and her husband at their small beef cattle farm in Buchanan, where they also raise Holland Lop rabbits. She also enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with her beloved Shih Tzu, Oscar!

✨ And for a couple of things you may not know about Shantelle: She grew up in foster homes throughout her childhood, an experience that adds another layer to the heart she has for people and community. And on the lighter side, Shantelle and Oscar dress up for Halloween together every year, complete with a brand-new theme each time!

We’re grateful for Shantelle’s leadership, her heart for service, and the experience and perspective she brings to our Board. Thank you, Shantelle, for investing your time and talents in the Botetourt business community!

🎄 The Tinsel Trail is about more than Christmas trees - it’s also about giving back to this community that we all call home. ❤

Teresa Fridley with First Bank , along with Chamber Board Member (and notable Past President!) Maiya Ashby, of Craig Botetourt Electric Cooperative, recently met with Sheriff Matthew Ward to present the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office with a $500 charitable donation from proceeds of our annual Tinsel Trail!

These funds will help support the many community-focused events and initiatives the Sheriff’s Office provides throughout the year.

And there’s another special Tinsel Trail connection: Deputy Jonathan Mason of the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office has served on our Tinsel Trail Committee for years and, each season, works alongside his workforce group to help place all 45 of our Tinsel Trail Christmas trees. It’s a big job & we truly couldn’t bring the Trail to life without their help!

This is what the Tinsel Trail is all about: our community coming together, creating a little Christmas magic and turning it into an opportunity to give back. ❤️🎄
