In the market, the best-performing asset class often varies from year to year. Diversifying across asset classes ensures participation in the stronger ones while mitigating the impact of weaker-performing classes.

In a new op-ed in Barron's, our CEO and SIFMA’s 2026 Board Chair, Ron Kruszewski, reflects on a recent SIFMA study conducted independently by KPMG US, revealing significant generational divides in investor behavior. For Gen Z, excitement and transparency are increasingly taking precedence over long-term returns -- a warning sign for the industry.

Ron cautions that the line between investing and gambling is blurring and urges the industry to respond with education, clarity, and platforms that build trust, not just access.

An even stronger growth profile in Q2 led by additional strength in consumption and investment reiterates the storyline of a solid economy despite fiscal policy uncertainty, relatively elevated price pressures and a reduced pace of hiring. While at least some Fed officials appear increasingly concerned regarding additional potential weakness in the labor market and willing to ease policy further, the latest slew of data supports the call from the more hawkish members of the Committee to cease additional rate cuts from here and continue to focus on reinstating price stability.
