ided to open my own boutique retail store. I would sell gifts and home accessories all made in the USA. This would include metal beds, wine racks, bakers racks, and tables manufactured by my Dad's company in High Point, NC. I worked for my Dad and had the opportunity to clean toilets and build a coffee table out of steel. I was also able to head up a new segment of his business; assembly and packaging of import furniture in Wilmington, NC. He also acquired a furniture line that sold direct to retail stores and I was lead on that project. It was working with the retail stores that led me to opening my own retail store. I resigned from my Dad’s company and went to work for a home décor retail chain to learn the workings of a retail store. After 3 months I was promoted to store manager. I was there a year and I was ready to embark on my own adventure. I researched, planned and opened my store! Six months went by and that’s when I knew… I enjoyed opening the store more than I did operating the store. I closed the store and took an Office Manager position with an industrial equipment sales company in Kernersville, NC. 14 years later they still entrust me with their books!
