It was a great morning as Team First Southern's Jack Lovelady and Richard "Pudge" Bailey helped to cut the ribbon on the new Scottsboro - Jackson County Port Authority intermodal port on the shores of the Tennessee River in Bridgeport!
Lovelady, who serves as Chairman of the Port Authority and Bailey, President of the Scottsboro City Council have worked with the County Economic Development Authority and other local and state leaders to re-establish the organization and see this project come to life.
Congratulations to the County Economic Development Authority on their successful endeavor! We're happy to support their efforts to assist our local farmers in getting their crops to market, and businesses and industry to get the raw materials that they need to succeed!

This July, we are honored to celebrate Karen Hubbard Privette's 40th Work Anniversary with First Southern State Bank! Over the past four decades, Karen has witnessed and contributed to tremendous growth, helping FSSB evolve from a two-branch bank into the eleven-branch community bank we are today. More importantly, she has built lasting relationships and touched countless lives along the way.

As Karen shared, "FSSB has never felt like just a place to work. It has been a place filled with meaningful relationships, shared memories, laughter, challenges, and countless moments that I will always carry with me."

A special piece of Higdon history has found its way back home. 🏦

While shopping at Main Street Mercantile 204, Lisa Shae Choate, FSSB employee, spotted the item displayed on a shelf and recognized its connection to the bank. The current business owner, NaShee Chisenall, shared that they had discovered it in storage within the building and believed it might be important to us. Rather than dispose of it, they generously gifted it back to the bank. The artifact is especially meaningful because it is connected to our former Higdon location, which opened in 1967 to serve the customers of the North Sand Mountain communities and faithfully served the area until being replaced by our current branch in 2020.

We are grateful to Main Street Mercantile 204 for helping preserve this piece of local history and returning it to where it belongs. Thank you for being part of our story and helping us honor the communities we've proudly served for generations. 💙

⛳️ Scott Kirk, Logan McKenzie, Tyler Cooper, and Todd Kirk enjoyed a great day at the annual FCA Golf Tournament on July 9. The tournament raises funds for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in DeKalb County, helping provide Bibles to coaches and athletes and supporting student-athletes as they attend Leadership Camp each December. We're proud to support an organization that is making a positive impact on the lives of young people throughout our community. 💙🏌️‍♂️
