Attention folks… there is a lot of scammers calling friends & family of people in jail, claiming they are from some typed of pre trail court stating they can have your loved one released for the amount of the total bond & sometimes they are stating the person will never have to go back to court. This is a SCAM! Do Not send them money. Call the jail your loved one is in. Ask for numbers for bonding companies approved to write bonds in that county. The only person that is authorized to do a diversion program for a defendant is a judge to go in front of the Judge means you have to appear in court. Do not send cash app. Do not send prepaid cards PayPal anything to someone that is not authorized to get your loved one out of jail.. please ask questions a lot of questions. Please call the Jail if in doubt or call a reputable bonding company. Also courts do not call you on the phone asking for money because somehow you missed a court date court records are public and you may look them up don’t fall for this scam. It’s getting bigger and bigger and people are losing money. Beware be safe and be cautious.

SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS REINFORCE SAFE DRIVING IN STARK COUNTY

CANTON, Ohio, July 1, 2026 – On June 26, 2026, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with other members of the Stark County OVI Task Force, conducted two sobriety checkpoints in Lawrence Township—one in 8100 block of Manchester Avenue NW and the other in the 10800 block of Portage Street.

Sobriety checkpoints, also known as OVI (operating a vehicle while impaired) checkpoints, are primarily designed to deter and detect impaired drivers to reduce alcohol- or drug-related crashes and enhance road safety. Although they may cause brief delays, checkpoints are conducted in compliance with state and federal guidelines and are designed to minimize inconvenience for law-abiding motorists.

A total of 689 motorists were contacted during the operation, which was supported by grant funding from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. These high-visibility enforcement efforts included cooperation from the Beach City Police Department, Lawrence Township Police Department, and the Massillon Police Department.

As a result of the checkpoints:
• Two drivers were cited for driving without an Ohio driver’s license;
• Two drivers were cited for distracted driving violations; and
• Six drivers were issued other citations.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office will continue to notify the public in advance of checkpoints through local media and its official page.

Please beware there is a scam regarding someone calling you from what appears as a local sheriffs department. The person tells animates family that they are working with the court to secure your loved one’s release. All you have to do is Cash App them X amount of money, they claim your family member will be released within a few hours. THIS A SCAM! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!
