With 2026 being the International Year of the Woman Farmer, Premier Farm Credit has been proudly recognizing some of our very own employees who also contribute passionately to their agricultural pursuits outside of the office. Today we recognize Events & Engagement Coordinator, Cara Draegert, who is new to PFC having been with us for 8 months working out of the Admin office in Sterling.
While Cara enjoys her time in the office coordinating events and representing Premier outside of the office, during her extra time you can find her on the Draegert Family farm northeast of Brush, CO, which she operates alongside her husband, Ryan, her two adult children, Quinton and Delaney, and her in-laws. The Draegert's operation includes irrigated corn, alfalfa, and a cow/calf herd. Cara can be found sorting pairs, helping feed, fixing fence, doing the head count, or operating the hay rake. You won't find her setting an irrigation tube as that is her least favorite job and will volunteer to carry the flashlight instead! 😀
Cara's passion for agriculture was born into her having grown up in a large dryland farming family around New Raymer. Cara's family also owned and operated the grain elevators there and Cara could be found bagging grain, mixing bird feed, and weighing and dumping trucks. Cara believes, "People involved in agriculture are the true salt of the earth and some of the best people you will ever find. Living and working amongst them daily is my greatest treasure."
Cara knows that in today's ag, diversification is often key and has encouraged her kids to stay true to their roots while working towards goals that could support them outside of the cow corral. Quinton is a Senior Energy Salesman for CHS, Inc. and Delaney will graduate in December 2026, from West Texas A&M University with a degree in Ag Media & Communications. They also own their own cattle herd and help on the farm whenever they can. For Cara, it is so rewarding to see them successfully follow their own path while also knowing the family farm will be left in good hands when the time comes.
We are thankful for Cara's fresh perspective at Premier Farm Credit and her dedication to agriculture. We are proud to celebrate her and the many women who make a difference in agriculture!
