On Sunday, October 4, Alicia Weir from our team and her dog Ziggy took part in Baypath Humane Society’s 17th annual Paws & Claws 5K at Hopkinton State Park.

Baypath provides shelter, care, and adoption for more than 1,000 cats and dogs each year, and the 5K is one of its biggest community events in support of that work. It was a clear fall morning along the water with plenty of four-legged participants, and Ziggy may have had the best time of anyone there.

We spend our days working with nonprofits on the financial side of their missions, so it was good to be out with one of them in person, close to home. Thank you to the Baypath staff and volunteers who brought so many people and dogs together for the animals.

Stefanie Natoli and William Morgan were at Polar Park this Thursday for the 8th annual Champions for Children celebration, the signature fundraiser for our client CASA Project Worcester County.

The evening brought supporters together over food from local restaurants, auctions, and an awards ceremony. The money raised trains Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers, community members whom a court appoints to speak for a child's best interests.

CASA Project Worcester County has done this work since 1981. By the organization's count, more than 2,000 children in Worcester County are in foster care, most of them under 12.

Congratulations to the entire CASA team on a great night.

This Disability Pride Month, we want to recognize one of our clients, Opportunities for Inclusion in Waltham.

Since 1956, Opportunities for Inclusion (formerly GWArc) has served individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, along with frail elders and their families. Their programs span day habilitation, employment and community-based day services, residential services, shared living, adult family care, and recreation, all built around a person-centered approach that stays sensitive to the level of support each individual needs to thrive.

Disability Pride Month is about recognizing disability as a natural part of human diversity and rejecting the idea that people have to fit a mold to belong. That reflects what Opportunities for Inclusion has worked toward for nearly 70 years: independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy for the people they serve.

On Tuesday evening, Stefanie and Amanda had the pleasure of attending the 201st Annual Meeting of the Worcester Natural History Society/EcoTarium — that's not a typo. Our client the EcoTarium traces its roots back more than two centuries, making it one of the oldest natural history organizations in the country.

The evening featured a showcase of the upcoming exhibit The Secret World of Elephants — the EcoTarium is one of the few museums in the country capable of hosting an exhibit of this scale. The night also included the annual meeting and the presentation of the Edward Howe Forbush Naturalist Award.

Today, the EcoTarium is a museum of science and nature in Worcester, inspiring curiosity in the next generation through hands-on exhibits, live animal encounters, and the only public planetarium in central Massachusetts.

It's a privilege to support an institution with this kind of staying power. Two hundred and one annual meetings is a testament to what sustained community support — and sound stewardship — can build.
