New law requires use of headlights and taillights when windshield wipers are on

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A new Massachusetts law going into effect on Tuesday outlines situations in while drivers must use their headlights and taillights.

The law requires that front and back vehicle lights be on from a half an hour after sunset to a half an hour before sunrise, whenever the windshield wipers are on, and when low light or weather conditions prevent drivers from seeing more than 500 feet in front of them.

Officials say the law is intended to increase safety and visibility on the roadway.
