This week's "Insurance Tip of the Week" is - small updates can prevent big surprises.

Did you recently build a shop, buy new equipment, buy a new recreational vehicle, make any renovations/repairs to your home, add a driver, or maybe have one less driver now as a child is grown and has their own insurance? With the recent storms, a couple changes that many people are making are new roofs and new windows. Have you let your agent know when these repairs are finished?

Changes like the ones listed above can affect your insurance needs, and keeping your agent informed as changes happen - not just at renewal - can help us ensure that your coverage keeps up with your life. A quick conversation today can help prevent unexpected coverage gaps at will inevitably show up at claim time.

At Sonnenberg Agency, LLC, we're here to provide honest advice and make sure your coverage grows with you.

Here is this week's "Insurance Tip of the Week". We encourage you to know what your deductible is - especially before a claim occurs.

One of the most common surprises during a claim is realizing how much the deductible actually is. If you don't know - your deductible is the amount you're responsible for paying before your insurance coverage begins. Usually it is the amount that is deducted from the settlement prior to the insurance company paying the claim.

Many people are tempted to choose a higher deductible in-the-beginning when writing the policy because it can lower the premium, but it's important to make sure it's an amount you could comfortably afford if an unexpected loss occurs.

Take a few minutes to review your policies and understand your deductibles. Being prepared today can make the claims process much less stressful tomorrow. At Sonnenberg Agency, LLC, we're always happy to review your coverage and answer your questions—because informed clients make confident decisions.

This week's "Insurance Tip of the Week" is: create a home inventory *before you need it*.

If your home is ever damaged by a fire, storm, or theft, one of the hardest parts of the claims process can be remembering everything you owned. We encourage you to take an hour to walk through your home, garage, shop, or barn with your smartphone and record a video of your belongings. Open drawers, closets, cabinets, and storage areas, and capture valuable items like electronics, tools, fi****ms, jewelry, collectibles, and appliances. Save receipts or take photos of serial numbers (whenever possible) of new purchases.

Store a copy of this video inventory in a secure location, such as cloud storage or an external drive kept away from your home. Having a current inventory can help speed up the claims process, improve accuracy, and reduce the stress of trying to remember what was lost after a disaster.

At Sonnenberg Agency, LLC, we believe preparation is one of the best forms of protection. If you have questions about your coverage or would like to review your insurance needs, give us a call at 970-522-1681. We're here to help protect what matters most to you.

Our office will be closed this Friday, July 3rd, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

We wish a safe harvest for all the wheat growers that have started, or will be starting, harvest this week. And we hope that everyone celebrates America's 250th birthday in healthy and safe ways!

Regarding fireworks: please be mindful that even though we've received rains recently, the land in Northeast Colorado is still very dry, and that fireworks (*that are not professionally-supervised*) may not be the best idea given the ongoing drought conditions.

With the recent storms, we know that many of you have been contacted by out-of-town roofing contractors. It is difficult to know who is local, who you can trust, who will follow-up after the work is complete, and who is credible. This list (although not exhaustive) are local roofing contractors that our agency has knowledge of. We highly recommend using local contractors!

This week's "Insurance Tip of the Week" is about managing stress, worry, and anxiety during an insurance claim.

With many people experiencing losses from last night's storm, we understand that it can be overwhelming. Remember though - you don't have to navigate the claims process alone. When a claim occurs we encourage you do the following:
(1) Take a deep breath and focus on immediate safety first. Remember, patience is not easy, but it is necessary.
(2) Document the damage with photos and notes when it is safe to do so.
(3) Keep receipts for any emergency expenses related to preventing further damage.
(4) Stay in communication with us - your trusted insurance partner.
(5) Ask questions—there are no "bad" questions when it comes to your claim.

One of the biggest sources of stress is uncertainty. That's why it's important to lean on your insurance agent for guidance. We're here to help explain the process, advocate for you, and provide updates along the way. Insurance is more than a policy - it's peace of mind when life doesn't go as planned. Remember: focus on what you can control today, and let us - your trusted insurance partner - help with the rest.

We're trying something new - an "Insurance Tip of the Week"! Here we go!

Don't assume your policy automatically covers everything you own. Major life changes - such as purchasing a new vehicle, adding farm equipment, acquiring livestock, renovating your home, or starting a business - can create coverage gaps if your policy isn't updated.

Take a few minutes each year to review your policy with your insurance agent. A simple review can help ensure you're properly protected before a loss occurs.
