Various news outlets are incorrectly reporting that HAP is leaving Michigan!

THIS IS UNTRUE!

I want to clarify recent misinformation: HAP is not leaving the Michigan market. Despite inaccurate reports from some local media outlets, HAP remains a strong, sustainable option offering affordable health plans across Michigan for 2026, including:
Medicare
Commercial
Small Group
Off-exchange Individual & Family Plans

Medicare

HAP offers some of the most affordable and benefit-rich Medicare plans in Michigan, with a 4-star quality rating for both HMO and PPO plans from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
While other plans have reduced or eliminated benefits—impacting over 150,000 seniors—HAP has seen record-breaking enrollment in the first two weeks of AEP.

Commercial
HAP introduced Henry Ford Health Select, delivering 15–20% lower premiums.

Small Group
HAP achieved one of the lowest rate increases in the Michigan market at 8.6%.

Don't think you need Travel Insurance, when traveling out of the country?

TRUE STORY⤵️
Someone I know is on a Medicare Advantage plan and recently traveled to Jamaica for vacation. While there, she suffered a serious fall and broke her hip. She is currently hospitalized in Jamaica and unable to fly home on a regular commercial flight because she can't sit upright — she would need a medical evacuation (Medi-vac) flight on a stretcher, which is extremely expensive and of course not covered by her Medicare Advantage plan.
To make matters worse, the hospital is requiring payment before discharging her, but she doesn’t have the funds to pay the out-of-pocket medical bills or the cost of the Medi-vac transport.
She is essentially stuck, both physically and financially, and in urgent need of help.
Does anyone have experience with emergency medical evacuations, international patient advocacy, or know of any organizations or resources that might assist in cases like this?

If you're enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) and already paying a Late Enrollment Penalty, you might notice your penalty amount has increased this year.

💡 Here’s why:
The LEP is recalculated annually based on the national base premium set by Medicare—which just went up for 2025. That means your monthly penalty, which is a percentage of that base amount, also increases.

✅ Quick reminder:
The LEP is charged to those who didn’t enroll in a Part D plan when first eligible and went without creditable prescription coverage for 63+ days.
