Trump Signs Executive Order to Expand IVF Access and Reduce Costs

President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for recommendations to protect in vitro fertilization (IVF) access and reduce health plan costs for this type of assisted reproductive technology. HHS Announces HIPAA Audit Program Will Resume

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently updated its HIPAA enforcement website to announce the start of its 2024-25 audit program. HIPAA is enforced by HHS’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR). According to OCR, the 2024-25 HIPAA audits will review 50 covered entities’ and business associates’ (collectively called regulated entities) compliance with selected provisions of the HIPAA Security Rule most relevant to hacking and ransomware attacks.

Acting NLRB General Counsel Rescinds Several Biden-era Memorandums

On Feb. 14, 2025, the Acting General Counsel (GC) of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a memorandum rescinding several policies issued by the previous NLRB GC, including memorandums addressing severance and noncompete agreements, captive audience bans and the rights of student-athletes under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). The memorandum also restores prior guidance that delegated authority to authorize certain disclosures by the NLRA to the Division of Legal Counsel and indicates that the GC will issue new guidance to replace some rescinded memorandums.
