This is our family: my wife Ruth, my wife of 22 years, myself, and our 28-year-old son, Michael, who is autistic.

When Michael was 5 years old, his biological mother filed for divorce because of the challenges surrounding his condition. In the end, she left both Michael and me, and we have not heard from her or received any support since 2006.

At that time, Michael did not yet have a diagnosis. We only knew that he was behind developmentally and had significant behavioral challenges. The divorce was financially devastating. I lost our home, my business, and thousands of dollars while fighting for Michael’s well-being.

Then Ruth came into our lives and helped raise Michael from the time he was 5 years old. It was not always easy, and we faced many challenges, but we stayed consistent, patient, and committed.

Today, Michael is a fine young man. We now live down the shore in South Jersey, and Michael just received his driver’s license.

We are so proud of how far he has come.

This might seem small to some people, but for us, it’s huge.

My boy has eaten PB&J every single day since he was about 18 months old. Lately, I’ve been trying to introduce more filling foods. He loves cheese, loves bread, and recently started accepting sandwich meat, so I decided to try it.

Deli chicken and cheddar… and he ate the entire sandwich.

I was so proud I could’ve cried. I know my autism moms will understand. 🥹

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself and my son, Treshon.

He just graduated high school, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Treshon is autistic, and this milestone means so much to our family. ❤️

Raising autistic kiddos can definitely be exhausting, but then they turn around and do the funniest things.

Like… why are there so many oranges in my shower? 🤣🤣🤣

There’s nothing quite like getting your Level 3, nonverbal child’s school pictures back and seeing that he smiled for the photo. 💙

This is one very happy dad right now!

P.S. His eyes appear black because he was born with a rare eye condition called aniridia, which means he does not have an iris in either eye.

Hi everyone!

This is my 5-year-old grandson, Noah. He is nonverbal, and today he did something amazing.

He went poopy in the potty!

I know that may not seem like a big deal to everyone, but for Noah and his village, this is a huge accomplishment.

We pour love, patience, and positivity into this sweet boy every single day, and today we are celebrating a big win.

Please help me celebrate Noah and this wonderful milestone!

My sweet little man, who is nonverbal, just asked for what he wanted by signing “help” in ASL and then leading me by the hand to show me. 😭💜

I am so incredibly proud of him. 🥹
