What a WICKEDLY FUN night in High Ridge! 🎃🧙‍♀️

The community turned out in a BIG way for the inaugural Witches Night in the Ridge this past Saturday, with more than 1,000 people joining the festivities!

This family-friendly event featured trick-or-treating, costume contests, 30+ vendors, music, food, sweet treats, raffles, and plenty of Halloween fun!

Century Credit Union was proud to be one of the event sponsors, especially knowing that a portion of the proceeds will benefit The BackStoppers of Jefferson County, which supports families of fallen and catastrophically injured first responders.

As temperatures drop, you can help make a difference for those in need right here in our community!

We're collecting new and gently used coats, blankets, sleeping bags, and other winter essentials — including heavy socks, thermal clothing, fleece-lined hoodies, insulated gloves, sturdy shoes and boots, cozy scarves, knit hats, and hand warmers — at both Century Credit Union branches.

Your donations will support two wonderful local charitable efforts:

❤️ Warners' Winter Warm-Up Coat Drive: Donate coats through November 1 to benefit Kurt Warner's First Things First Foundation.

❤️ Real Life Ministries: Donate blankets, sleeping bags, and other winter clothing through November 11.

Happy International Credit Union Day®!

Today, we join roughly 4,000 other CUs in the U.S. and over 64,000 in 99 other countries in celebrating the spirit of the GLOBAL credit union movement! This annual event has been celebrated since 1948 and commemorates the credit union movement's impact and achievements.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 400 million members.

This year's theme is Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World, to remind members that in a world full of uncertainty and constant change, credit unions remain a steady signal: rooted in trust, people, and community.

Giving school supplies is one way to help. Rolling up our sleeves is another! 📚✏️

Six Century employees spent part of their weekend volunteering at KidSmart’s warehouse in Maryland Heights, helping get much-needed school supplies into the hands of local teachers — and ultimately, into the classrooms of students who need them most.

Our volunteer crew included our president/CEO, three other members of our management team, and two of our loan officers. Together, they provided drive-up service for teachers, packing boxes of school supplies directly into their vehicles Saturday morning.

Supporting has been a Century tradition for many years, with our members and employees donating school supplies at both of our branches. For the past few years, we’ve expanded that support by donating our time and manpower, too.

Some scams aren't about stealing money at first. They begin by gaining someone's trust.

For the final installment of our three-part awareness series, we're sharing information about a serious online threat known as sextortion.

Sextortion occurs when someone threatens to share another person's private or intimate images or information unless certain demands are met — which can include demands for money, additional images or other actions.

While this topic may not seem directly related to banking, protecting people from scams and exploitation goes beyond financial accounts. Knowing how sextortion can begin, recognizing the warning signs and understanding what to do if it happens can help protect you and the people you care about.

That rental listing looks perfect. But is it real? 🏠

In the second installment of our three-part fraud awareness series, we’re looking at fake listing rental scams — schemes designed to trick prospective renters into sending money for a property that may not actually be available for rent or may not even belong to the person advertising it.

Before sending a deposit, application fee or other payment, take a few extra steps to make sure the property — and the person offering it — are legitimate.

⚾ A grand-prize night at the ballpark!

David Kuhl was one of the two grand-prize winners from our summer Century Visa® credit card promotion!

He enjoyed a night at Busch Stadium on Monday, taking in the Cardinals game from the 703 Budweiser Club in left field, with food and drinks included throughout the evening. And the Cards delivered, too — a 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants!

Once again this year, Century participated in KidSmart’s “Push for Pencils, Push for Change” school supply drive, helping provide much-needed classroom supplies for children throughout the St. Louis area.

Throughout August, we collected school supplies at both Century branches, and yesterday morning, we delivered everything to KidSmart — along with a $193.06 check.

That monetary donation came from our members and employees, who dropped cash into collection jars at our teller windows, with the credit union matching their donations dollar for dollar.

To put the $193.06 donation into perspective, KidSmart can use that amount to provide 58 children with 772 notebooks or 385 children with 385 boxes of crayons.

The large number of school items we collected included coloring supplies (crayons, markers and colored pencils), writing supplies (pencils, pens and highlighters), folders, notebooks, paper, composition books, binders, backpacks, glue sticks, scissors, and erasers.

Thank you to everyone who contributed supplies or money to this year’s drive. Your generosity will help put essential school supplies into the hands of local children who need them. ❤️

Another impressive achievement for our president & CEO! 👏

We’re incredibly proud to have someone leading Century who never stops learning, growing and looking for ways to make our credit union even stronger.

Please join us in congratulating Josh Wallace on becoming a Certified Credit Union Investments Professional (CCUIP) last week after completing a program offered by America’s Credit Unions.

So, what does all that investment training mean for Century? Simply put, Josh learned even more about how to make our money work harder.

Ideally, we put members’ deposits to work by lending those funds to other members for cars, homes and other needs. But when we have more deposits than we can put into loans, we don’t want that money just sitting around. We safely invest those funds so they can continue earning income for Century — and ultimately benefit our members.

Josh also holds certifications as a Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist and a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor, reflecting his commitment to continually expanding his knowledge and putting it to work for Century and the people we serve.
