There are several ways we can better support men facing mental health challenges. Reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness is essential so that men feel more comfortable seeking help when they need it. Another major barrier is lack of awareness — many men may not recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions or know where to turn for help. This can be especially true for men in marginalized communities, including men of color, LGBTQ+ men, and those living in rural areas. Increasing education and awareness, along with ensuring access to affordable, high-quality mental health care and support services, can make a meaningful difference.

If you are struggling, remember that you do not have to face it alone. There are people who care about your well-being and want to support you. Reaching out to a trusted friend, family member, therapist, or mental health professional can be an important first step toward getting help.

"By sharing our lived experiences, learning from each other’s experiences, and building strong community connections, we can challenge stigma and create spaces where people are supported, understood, and find healing.

Every story shared turns silence into connection, and connection into healing. Together, we can strengthen communities and create opportunities for empathy, understanding, and meaningful change."

- National Alliance on Mental Illness
