As adults, it's easy to get caught up in deadlines, meetings, bills, and everything else life throws our way. Today is a good reminder to think about the children in our communities and around the world who deserve the chance to simply be kids.

Every child should have access to education, healthcare, safety, and opportunities to build a brighter future. Unfortunately, many children still face poverty, exploitation, and barriers that keep them from reaching their full potential.

A Success Story

When Elizabeth Mitchell set out to create The Rize Event Center, she envisioned more than a venue; she wanted a place where people could gather, celebrate, create, and connect.

With support from Justine PETERSEN, that vision became reality.

Funding helped transform The Rize through key facility improvements, upgraded stage and sound capabilities, and expanded catering and commercial kitchen operations. Today, The Rize serves as a destination for weddings, banquets, live entertainment, cultural programming, and entrepreneurial growth opportunities for local chefs and caterers.

In 2026, The Rize Event Center & Catering was recognized as a "Best of 2026 Award Winner" for Event Venue in the Airport Township area, a reflection of the incredible experience Elizabeth and her team provide every day.

We’re excited to be part of a project that’s helping create jobs and strengthen manufacturing in Granite City, Illinois.

Justine PETERSEN, alongside Heartland Regional Investment Fund (HRIF), helped provide New Markets Tax Credit financing to The Steel Works to support business growth, equipment improvements, and workforce expansion.

Investments like this are about more than business growth — they’re about supporting people, families, and communities for the long term. We’re proud to help make opportunities like this possible throughout our region.
