🎄🎄🎄 The holiday event of the season is right around the corner! Please join us at Villa Antonio Winery for Night of Lights to benefit Toys for Tots. The women of Little Black Book in Jefferson County have been working hard to bring together an incredible night of holiday lights, hot cocoa, and heartfelt giving in our community. Entry is FREE but donations to Toys for Tots are appreciated. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy if you are able.

Deer Season: Do you have comprehensive auto insurance coverage?

Q: What is the stopping distance at 50mph?
Q: How far does the average low beam travel?

A: It typically takes a driver about three-fourths of a second to recognize a hazard and another three-fourths of a second for the brain to tell the body to put the foot on the brake and have the foot actually start pressing the pedal, giving us a reaction time of 1.5 seconds.

Let’s assume a best case scenario of 20 feet per second. At 50 mph (or a bit over 73 feet per second) a driver travels 110 feet in the 1.5 seconds it takes to react and another 133 feet to bring the car to a stop, for a total of 243 feet.

A: By law, a low beam is required to “reveal persons and vehicles” at a distance of 150 feet. Note: High beams, typically illuminate the road between 350 to 400 feet ahead.
