You’re probably shopping your home insurance the wrong way.
Most people compare policies using the declarations page.
That’s a problem.
Because the dec page only shows surface-level numbers:
• dwelling coverage
• personal property
• liability limits
• deductibles
What it DOESN’T show:
• exclusions
• endorsements
• limitations
• named peril vs. all peril coverage
• hidden gaps in the policy
Two home insurance policies can look almost identical on paper… and still protect you very differently.
One policy may only cover specifically named losses.
Another may cover virtually everything unless specifically excluded.
That’s a massive difference.
The problem is most people are shopping based on price without realizing they’re not actually comparing the policy itself.
They’re comparing the summary page.
And those are not the same thing.
