It's finally happening!
We've got some exciting renovations happening to our sweet, history filled office. These old buildings have so much character, one of which is the hardwood floors we discovered. We've decided to try and bring it back to life.
We learned that the original hardwood floors dated back before World War I - that's pretty old (no offense).
This kind of wood is really narrow, only 2 inches in width. Back in the early 1900s, lumber mills started producing thinner, more uniform strips like this to make better use of available timber as demand for wood was rising fast. It was an early shift toward efficiency that shaped how homes were built for decades.
It was famously used for rail box cars!
Here's some photos of what it looked like once we ripped up the layers of carpet and linoleum.
And yes, we'll be getting new blinds😆
Stay tuned for more changes.
