What happens when employees don't just work for a business, but have a stake in its success?

Metalworking Solutions is a great example!

After attending a Great Game of Business Conference in 2021, the company's leadership began exploring the possibility of employee ownership. By May 2024, they had successfully transitioned to an ESOP.

Their story highlights something we believe strongly at GGOB: Giving employees a stake in the outcome is powerful, but helping them understand and improve business performance makes that ownership even more meaningful.

Great example of the Great Game in action!

For more than a decade, Greene County, Missouri, has been using The Great Game of Business to bring employees together, build financial understanding, and strengthen collaboration across departments.

Their weekly Huddles go beyond the numbers, creating opportunities for employees to learn more about the work happening throughout the county and how it all connects to serving their community.

We love seeing Greene County continue to make the Great Game part of its culture, and being transparent with the community. Keep up the great work!

Imagine what would be possible if more of our government operated this way.

What does The Game look like in local government?

Greene County, Missouri, has been showing us since 2012.

From weekly financial Huddles and employee MiniGames to leadership development and transparent financial reporting, Greene County has made the Great Game part of how they serve their community.

And it's not just about understanding the numbers. It's about helping employees make informed decisions, work together, and become better stewards of taxpayer dollars.

We're proud to share their story and grateful for their continued commitment to playing The Game.

Take a look at how they're putting these principles into practice!

With great ownership comes great responsibility... and maybe a little financial literacy training. 💪📊

Employee ownership is something worth celebrating! But having a stake in the business is only part of the equation.

When employees understand how the business works and how their actions influence its success, they can start thinking and acting like owners.

That's when the real power of employee ownership comes to life!

Happy ! 🎉

What if more people in your organization understood the challenges, opportunities, and numbers that drive your business?

That's what's happening at companies like 417 Magazine and Keep Supply, where employees aren't just doing their jobs—they're learning how the business works and helping improve it.

And those same principles are making a difference in Greene County, Missouri, where financial education and better forecasting have helped leaders make more informed decisions.

These are three of the stories highlighted in our feature on Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid.

We've brought them together in a new article exploring what it takes to build a stronger business by developing the people who make it successful.

Because building a healthy company isn't just about the numbers. And it isn't just about the people.

It's Money. It's People. It's Both.

Kylie Jackson is speaking today at Drury University’s Nonprofit Leadership Conference, where leaders are exploring what it takes to build lasting impact through the theme Time-Tested. Future-Focused.

That’s the work we believe in at The Great Game of Business: helping organizations build on proven principles—transparency, shared knowledge, and real ownership—while equipping their people to meet what’s next.

When everyone understands The Game, they can help move the mission forward.

While the Conference is still fresh in your mind, invest 30 minutes now—and give your team wins to celebrate in the future

One 30-minute conversation to hear their ideas. To discuss their takeaways. To start making a difference.

In just half an hour, your team can identify its best ideas, choose where to focus, and begin building an action plan everyone believes in. And if the conversation takes longer, consider it a sign that your team is invested in the business—that's a good problem to have.

At The Great Game of Business, we believe in the long game. These conversations may take time away from the day-to-day, but that time isn't wasted.

You're creating a game plan your team helped shape.
You're building momentum toward what comes next.
You're strengthening trust by showing every team member that their voice matters.

One last trip around the conference with the microphone. 🎤

After three days of learning, connecting, and sharing ideas, we asked the people of what was on their minds as the conference came to a close.

Now comes the best part: taking it all back to our teams.

A few sessions, conversations, and new ideas later…we brought the microphone back out. 🎤

Here’s what attendees had to say as rolled on!

One of our favorite parts of the conference will always be hearing people share what they’re learning from each other.

Shout out to Jeff Houghton and his team at The Mystery Hour for capturing these moments!
