Your ANOC (Annual Notice of Change) letter should be arriving by the end of this month! This document outlines any changes to your costs, coverage, and benefits that will go into effect on January 1. It arrives ahead of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, which runs from October 15 through December 7.

If you have questions about your letter, your Olympus agent would be happy to schedule a time to discuss your plan options after October 1st. If you do not receive a letter by October 1st your agent can assist in contacting your plan to make sure you are prepared for the 2027 year!

SAVE THE DATE! Medicare's Annual Enrollment period begins October 15th and ends December 7th!

What you can do:
-Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan.

-Switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to Original Medicare.

-Join, change, or drop a Medicare Advantage plan.

-Join, change, or drop a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.

-Review your current plan and compare new options for the following year.

Myth #1: Medicare Part B is free

If only it were so! Medicare Part B is not free. You may pay premiums, deductibles, copays and coinsurance out of pocket, just like with any health insurance plan.

In fact, no part of Medicare is completely free. While with Part A, you may qualify to have no premium, you will still have a deductible, copay and coinsurance. Medicare Advantage (Part C) may offer low- to no-cost premiums, but they also will include other costs. And, if you have Part D coverage, you may have a premium for that as well.

There are several good reasons to consider enrolling in Medicare when you turn 65 – even if you already have comprehensive coverage.

1. Your Medicare coverage could have lower premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses compared to your existing plan.

2. If your existing plan has a limited provider network, Original Medicare may offer you more flexibility because you can go to any doctor or hospital, nationwide, that accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans set their own provider networks, so you’ll want to compare those with your existing plan’s provider network if you’re considering a Medicare Advantage plan.

3. If you delay enrollment in Medicare and aren’t eligible for a special enrollment period, you could face lifetime penalties on Medicare premiums.

If you’re in a Medicare Advantage and/or Part D drug plan, you will receive an “Annual Notice of Change” (ANOC) and “Evidence of Coverage” (EOC) from your plan by September 30th each fall. The ANOC and EOC make reviewing your plan changes for 2027 easier, as all the changes are in these letters. They will include any changes in your coverage, your costs (including your deductible, copays and coinsurance), changes to provider and pharmacy networks, drug formularies and more, that will become effective in January. They will also share whether your current plan will be offered again in 2027. If you haven’t received your notice by September 30th, contact your plan to request a copy.

Medicare plans can change drastically each year, and Medicare’s Annual Enrollment (October 15 – December 7) is your opportunity to review your plan’s costs and changes for 2027 so you can decide whether or not it still meets your needs. Make sure to watch out for these notices!
