Be proactive this tornado season. Make sure you have at least 72 hours' worth of food, water and supplies available in the event of an emergency. And don't forget to make sure your homeowners policy is up to date, too. Call me to double-check.

Two feet of water will carry away most cars in a flood. Why? For each foot of water that rises around a car, the car displaces 1,500 lbs. of water. Two feet of water means 3,000 lbs. displaced. Call me so you can make sure your car and policies don't get carried away.

In case of emergency, have an “In Case of Emergency” (ICE) number saved in your phone. Seems obvious, but many medical personnel know to look for contacts listed as ICE when trying to alert people if you're in a medical situation.
