Insurance question I typically get-

Q: What happens if my neighbors tree falls on to my house?

A: If the tree in your neighbors' yard is healthy and falls onto your house, fence, or any other structures, then your homeowner's insurance will actually take care of that. It's not your neighbors' fault since the tree was perfectly healthy and an "act of God" caused the tree to fall onto your property causing property damage.

HOWEVER,

If the tree is dead, and your neighbors were aware that the tree is dead. This is a basic act of negligence resulting in them being responsible for the damages done to your structures, or property.

Here is a popular question I get, read this then tell me how much coverage you should have! 📢

Q: How much coverage should I have on my homeowner's insurance for my house? ⁉

A: Great question! If you have a standard built home (basic appliances, flooring, and architecture) then we recommend multiplying your square footage by $175. In the state of Missouri, contractors start building houses at $175/ square foot (that's for a basic home, typically a rectangle with builder standard appliances, flooring, and vinyl siding). If you have anything nicer than a standard built home, you could be looking anywhere between $195-$225 square foot!

For example.) If you have a 1900 square foot home, the math will look like this.

Standard grade-
1900 x $175 = $332,500

Above average grade-

1900 x $195= $370,500

Custom grade-

1900 x $225= $427,500

Based off this, drop down in the comments how much coverage you should have! 👀

❗️ GIVEAWAY ALERT ❗️ What is your guess on the amount of snow we are going to get in Springfield?? Let me know in the comments and I will be handing out a $25 gift card to whoever is the closest!

The two models here are the European model and the GFS model. Historically the European model is more accurate at forecasting winter weather, whereas the GFS model is more accurate at forecasting severe weather.

We won't know exactly how much we will get until Wednesday morning, but my guess is 7-10 inches in the Springfield area.

Have fun in the snow, if anything changes, we will be sure to update you!

A record-breaking week is ahead of us as we see an ARTIC INTRUSION and potentially the largest snow fall THIS YEAR🥶

The GFS and European models are suggesting that Springfield could see up to 7-8 inches of snow accumulation. 🤭

Most of the snow will fall between 6pm Tuesday night to 6am Wednesday morning.

AT THE SAME TIME AN ARTIC INTRUSION! An Artic Intrusion is an actual phrase used in weather to describe artic air (typically moving from Canada) that settles closer to the surface than typical, creating frigid temperatures. This can lead to pipes busting and a variety of other problems.

The Artic Intrusion happens to be rolling in on Tuesday morning and will hang out until Sunday Feb 23rd creating windchills between -10F to -20F. 🥶

1. Drip your faucets during the cold weather to avoid a water pipe bursting, that's the last thing you want to worry about in cold water.

2. Get your Emergency Roadside side information handy, that way if you do have to get out you won't have to scramble to find it.

3. Pull you windshield wipers off your windshield when you get home from work on Tuesday night.

If you're with American family call 1-800-MY-AMFAM or call me directly at the office!

The Super bowl is done, but the Super Snow has just begun!

February is ramping up to be a month full of wintery weather! 🥶

SNOW ACCUMULATION-

According to the GFS model, Springfield, Missouri can expect to see up to 5 inches of snow accumulation by 12:00PM Wednesday morning, with most of the accumulation happening between 6:00AM and 12:00PM.

ICE ACCUMULATION-

The same model is suggesting less of an impact from freezing rain/ice than we first expected. If we do end up getting some in Springfield, it will most likely be at 6:00AM and around a .10th of an inch.

Forecast are suggesting another wintery storm heading this way Feb 18th-21st so STAY TUNED!
