There is still time to file a supplemental claim for
Hurricane Milton property damage*

You have until April 9, 2026, to file a supplemental claim for newly discovered damage with your insurance carrier. Even after filing the initial claim, additional or newly discovered damage may arise later, especially hidden damage like structural issues.

For any property insurance claim for Hurricane Milton damage that was made before October 9, 2025, you can file a supplemental claim until April 9, 2026. It’s important to note that a supplemental claim is different than your initial claim filing and would only be for claims where your insurer acknowledged coverage but did not fully pay your claim (including under deductible or repairs where replacement is required).

Yes, in certain cases, you can still file a supplement for previously adjusted Hurricane Milton insurance claims in Florida today. Under state law, you have until April 9, 2026, to file a supplemental claim for the previously adjusted Hurricane Milton claim.

However, you must act quickly, as recent insurance reforms have significantly shortened the previous three-year window for these actions.
