One of the best parts of my job is experiencing how one relationship often leads to many more. I had the chance opportunity to meet a couple, who live in Bonner's Ferry. They talked about their involvement and partnering with a local church and 2nd Harvest, for a monthly community food distribution and invited me to check it out last year.
After the first time I went, I knew I wanted to continue to be part of this event because I was able to see first hand, how a community pools their resources and convictions, and put them into action to serve others.
I have been fortunate to be able to participate in the food distribution a few more times and it is always worth the time.
Through this event, I have been able to connect with more members of the Trinity Lutheran congregation, attend their service, as well as connect with other members of the Bonner's Ferry community and learn more about them as individuals and what drives them. Often times, each of their stories has been motivated by helping others, and in turn, helps me reexamine different ways on how I can help others, both, inside and outside of work.
All because of one chance conversation. When we make the effort to reach out to others with authentic curiosity, it can result in creating a ripple effect or adding to the number of ripples.
