INSURANCE TIP OF THE WEEK

Brunswick County, don’t let your guard down yet.

We’ve been fortunate so far this hurricane season, but September is here—and historically, some of the biggest storms to impact our area have come after September 1.

If you’ve lived around Southport, Oak Island, Shallotte, Leland, or anywhere along the Brunswick County coast for a while, you already know what these storms can do.

Fran. Floyd. Florence. Dorian. Helene.

Hurricane season doesn’t end until November 30.

Now is the time to make sure you’re prepared—not when the next storm is sitting off the coast and everyone is scrambling.

Take a few minutes to check:

• Do you have enough homeowners coverage?
• Is your wind and hail coverage adequate?
• Do you have flood insurance? Remember, homeowners insurance does not cover flooding.
• Is your emergency supply kit ready?
• Does your family have an emergency plan?

We can’t control what comes out of the Atlantic.

But we can control how prepared we are.

Don’t let a quiet start to hurricane season give you a false sense of security. The season isn’t over yet.
