The Stimulus bill just signed by the President is a repeat of the 2009 RMD Holiday during the Great Recession. What does that mean? That means taking your minimum required distribution this year from your retirement account(s), which was set to be based upon inflated balances from December 31, 2019 when the Dow average was MUCH higher, is now suspended, allowing retirees to keep their investments growing if you choose. The tax deadline has been pushed to 7/15/2020.

It was previously reported that payments were being deferred 90 days, but it was unclear if filing was also included. It has since been announced that Treasury Secretary Mnuchin has since announced that "Tax Day" has been pushed to July 15, 2020, including filing for corporations up to $10MM and individuals up to $1MM. The announcement is unclear if first quarter estimated payments (for self-employed individuals/small business) would also be deferred. This announcements does NOT pertain to filing/payments on a State level, at this time.
