Sometimes, bad behavior begets bad behavior.
After feeling like their dentist was aggressively upselling procedures, many folks stop getting preventive dental care altogether for a short while.
When they do finally select a new dentist, deep cleanings are often recommend -- which cost around $1,000, or 10x more than a standard cleaning, if you're keeping score at home.
And so the patient shies away again.
But when something does go wrong -- cavities, root canals, crowns, etc. -- those expensive procedures eat into employee and employer budgets alike. Those deep cleanings, as it turns out, are becoming increasingly necessary.
