Yep.

Costco is teaming up with SCAN to provide Advantage plans in two states and a plan in one other.

It's not like this isn't the first collab of its kind, but is it sending the wrong message? You can't exactly shop for your in bulk like its salad dressing. Clients need their agents. But on the other hand, will this collab bring lower prices?

On its face, direct-to-consumer lab testing has a ton of upside. Upfront payment,. No preauthorizations, and the right test could catch signs that a P*P visit is necessary.

But, when care is rendered outside a plan, it clouds the data administrators and health insurers have to work with. It becomes harder to offer appropriate care management programs, and reduces proper claims risk analysis.

When accurate pricing gets harder, actuaries make educated premium guesses, and whether they're favorable to employees is up in the air.

Keyword of the day: solely.

The GLP-1 BRIDGE will only allow beneficiaries to cross if the drug is prescribed for weight-loss, and even then, only in specific clinical categories.

But since covers GLPS-1s for sleep apnea, diabetes, and a few other conditions, beneficiaries will still have to go through their Part D plan to get the drug, even if the GLP-1 is also prescribed for weight loss.

Ready for some positive news?

Even though overall inflation is up, prices for some things have actually decreased YOY.

👉The price of nonprescription drugs is down 1.7%
👉The price of prescription drugs is down 3.1%
👉Health insurance costs are...down... 8%?

Administration sources attribute the drop in drug prices to the launch of and the most-favored-nation pricing. Experts also attribute the drop to price negotiations, PBM efforts to hold down spending, and price competition for GLP-1s.

At first glance, the drops feel dubious, especially as pros see a stream of 15% renewals. But the figure doesn't represent a real drop in premiums; rather, it's more of a reflection of insurers' retained earnings.

35% of employees say their expected retirement age has moved back over the past three years. They simply can't afford to retire.

That's a problem for them, but also a problem for their employers' plans.

Generally, older employees cost more to cover. The longer they stay on, the more they cost.

So, what's a business owner to do? Laws (and generally being good people) prevent them from kicking them to the curb. But they also might struggle to boost compensation enough to make retirement seem appealing.
