"Good players like the game. Great players love the game. Elite players LIVE the game."

Recently, we had the pleasure of hearing from legendary Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo at Jackson’s 'Up Your Game' event.

Something that really stayed with us: “Elite players make everyone around them great.”

He spoke about honest self-evaluation, learning from failure, and confronting problems so you can make the changes needed to improve. His idea of a “player-coached” team brought those lessons together: people taking ownership of their own growth and helping one another get better.

Among the many notes we took was a question from Coach Izzo: “Who do you want to ride with?”

There’s a lot of trust in choosing your team - the people you work with and those you surround yourself with - and a responsibility to keep getting better when someone chooses you. We take that to heart, in life and in our work. It’s why we keep learning, take an honest look at where we can improve, and put those lessons into practice for the people who count on us.

This October, Amanda is making her miles matter. 🏃‍♀️💙

As she prepares to run the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon, she’s also raising support for Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center through her Miles That Matter campaign.

Kids-TALK provides a safe, supportive place for children who have experienced abuse and trauma to be heard, supported and begin to heal. It’s a mission that means a great deal to Amanda — and one we’re proud to stand behind as a team.

We’ll be cheering her on every step of the way, knowing these miles represent something much bigger than a finish line.

What a NIGHT! 🦁🦒🥂💙

Saturday night we took over the Detroit Zoo and celebrated 25 YEARS of Bussa Financial Partners with more than 300 of our clients, family, colleagues, friends and guests — and my heart is still so full.

When we started this journey 25 years ago, I’m not sure we could have imagined a night quite like this. To look around and see so many of the people who have trusted us, supported us, worked alongside us and become part of our lives over the years was pretty incredible.

This celebration was really about one thing: THANK YOU.

Thank you to our clients for trusting us with your families, your businesses, your goals and your futures. Thank you to our amazing team. Thank you to our professional partners. And thank you to our family and friends who have supported us through all the long days, big dreams and everything in between.

25 years down — and we’re definitely not finished yet. ❤️

What an amazing way to celebrate this milestone with so many people who helped us get here.
