A routine call about a teenager knocking on doors turned into a life-changing surprise in Hapeville, Georgia.
Officer Eric Colleran was dispatched to investigate a report of a juvenile who neighbors wanted "removed" from the area.
When he arrived, he met 16-year-old Keonte Evans, who was politely going door-to-door offering to cut grass, pull weeds, and trim hedges. Instead of treating the situation like a typical nuisance call, Officer Colleran took the time to listen to the teenager's story.
Evans explained that he was doing yard work to earn money to buy school clothes for his five younger siblings, while hoping to eventually save enough for a PlayStation 5.
Striked by the teen's incredible work ethic, honesty, and respectful manners, the officer—who is an avid gamer himself—decided to take action.
Officer Colleran went home but couldn't stop thinking about the teen's drive.
He utilized social media to pool funds with a few close friends, raising enough money in under four days to buy a brand-new PS5 console and an online membership gift card.
When the officer pulled up to the family’s home a few days later, he popped his trunk to reveal the console.
Evans immediately wrapped the officer in a massive hug.
