June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. It is a time to raise awareness about a serious issue that can impact older adults in our communities, including financial exploitation.

Here at SCU, we believe protecting our community means protecting every generation in it. Awareness is one of the most important tools we have.

Warning signs of financial abuse can include unusual withdrawals, sudden changes to accounts or beneficiaries, pressure to act quickly on financial decisions, or isolation from trusted advisors or family members. If something does not feel right, pause and ask questions. A simple conversation can help prevent harm.

Fun Flag Day fact: The American flag has changed 27 times throughout history as new states joined the Union. The current 50-star flag has been in use since 1960, making it the longest-lasting version in our nation's history.

For generations, the flag has flown over small towns, big cities, neighborhood parades, school events, and community gatherings. It serves as a reminder of the people, places, and shared values that connect us. We’re proud to serve a community built on hard work, kindness, and looking out for one another. Happy Flag Day!

Second Chance Animal Shelter is in need of:
• Purina Puppy Chow
• Purina Little Bites
• Blankets & sheets (new or gently used)
