**CHOSEN CHARGERS - AUGUST 2026**
I'm proud to kick off our "Chosen Charger" recognition for the 2026-2027 academic school year for Southaven High School. 🏆🎖️

I had lunch with my first two outstanding Southaven chargers this past week - Chloe Brown and Kelvin Reed. Principal Adam Sikes is always gracious to allow us a meeting space and Athletic Director Wes Pounds coordinates the effort. My good friends at Chick-fil-A Getwell Road delivered us the good stuff! 🐔🙂 It was great to get to know these students better, hear about their accomplishments and their future plans.

Chloe Brown is a graduating senior and member of the Charger volleyball, softball, and bowling teams. In addition to being a stellar athlete, Chloe is amongst the top in her class and currently has a 30 on her ACT. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council. Outside of school, Chloe works at Liberation Escape Rooms and is heavily involved at Colonial Hills Church Southaven. After graduation, Chloe plans to attend Mississippi State University and pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Kelvin Reed is a graduating senior and member of the Charger basketball, swimming, and bowling teams. Kelvin is also an academic standout with a current ACT score of 24 and is a campus leader involved with National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors and seeking dual credits to get ahead in his college pursuits. Outside of school, Kelvin works at Strike Zone Bowling Lanes and is a member of the Kappa League and is heavily involved with his church. Kelvin plans to attend Howard University and pursue a career as a physical therapist.

Chloe and Kelvin will now be eligible to win the Ryan England-State Farm Agent "Chosen Charger" Scholarship. Two students will be selected from the monthly recipients and will receive a $1,500 scholarship at the Awards Day in May of 2027.

Congratulations to Luke McCoy for being named the Ryan England State Farm Player of the Week. He was chosen by coaches for his performance during the 8/21 game when he had 7 tackles and 3 passes defended. Congratulations, Luke!
