Contrary to popular belief, you don't need 20% saved up for a down payment to purchase a home. The minimum down payment required for a home varies depending on the loan type. Conventional loans typically require at least 5% down, while FHA loans require at least 3.5%. Some programs, like VA or Academy Mortgage's Down Payment Assistance programs, require NO DOWN PAYMENT!
