Medicare Information Sessions at the South Plainfield Library
Join me for my third year of presenting important updates on Medicare changes for 2026 at the South Plainfield Library.
Whether you are new to Medicare or wish to review the upcoming changes, I invite you to stop by for a one-on-one discussion.
This year, several Medicare Advantage PPO plans are seeing premium increases, and many prescription drug plans will also have cost adjustments.
Be sure to review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and visit me to better understand your coverage and options for 2026.
Looking forward seeing you,
James Stoeckel

ON THE WAY TO TURNING 65!

The Medicare Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a seven-month period when someone is first eligible to sign up for Medicare:
Age eligibility
The IEP begins three months before the person's 65th birthday, includes the month of their 65th birthday, and ends three months after.
Turning 65 Mistakes:
• Not fully comparing original Medicare with Medicare Advantage plans
• Not signing up for Medicare at the right time
• Being confused about your options if you work past age 65
• Delaying enrollment if your job’s insurance is second in line
• Not knowing when to sign up for Part D
• Choosing a Medicare Advantage plan that doesn’t include your health care providers
• Not understanding your out-of-pocket costs
• Waiting too long to buy Medigap coverage
• Not checking the prescription list in a Part D policy
• Assuming you can’t afford Medicare

Please note that Medicare Part D prescription plans now have a $2000 cap. If you are being prescribed costly brand-name drugs that are tier 3 or higher. For most plans, you will have to pay a set plan deductible up to $590 before the plan cost benefit starts. Your best interest is to review and compare your current plan to ensure you are not overpaying for your prescriptions.
