📈 Why Did Mortgage Rates Move Higher?

Mortgage rates have been under pressure again, and one of the biggest reasons is the **10-Year Treasury yield.

Today, the 10-Year Treasury moved higher again and recently reached levels not seen since **2002.
Mortgage rates don’t move exactly with the 10-Year Treasury, but they are closely connected through the bond and mortgage-backed securities markets.

The result? The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has climbed sharply, with Freddie Mac reporting **7.28% this week**, up from 7.03% the prior week. ([AP News][2])
