Millennialsā€™ total net worth went from $3.94 trillion to $15.95 trillion since 2019ā€”roughly quadrupling.

But that headline doesnā€™t tell the whole story:

The numbers in this research show a generational divide:

ā€¢Millennials over 35: net worth of $135,600
ā€¢Millennials under 35: net worth of just $39,000, with only 22% owning a home

Meanwhile, home prices climbed 37% between 2020 and 2024, while mortgage rates went from around 3% to 7.5%+

Those who bought earlier had a chance to build equity as prices rose. Those still trying to buy faced higher prices AND higher borrowing costs.

Maybe the conversation shouldnā€™t just be ā€œboomers ruined everything.ā€

Maybe it should be: How do we make homeownership more attainable? Then build a realistic plan to get there?
