If your refund has been seriously delayed, your tax issue is causing financial hardship, or you have tried to fix the problem with the IRS and keep getting nowhere, you may be able to request help from the Taxpayer Advocate Service.

Form 911 is used to ask for assistance when your tax situation is causing a real hardship or when normal IRS channels are not resolving the issue.

Be clear about what is happening, how long it has been going on, and how the delay or issue is affecting you financially.

You can also contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service by phone at 877-777-4778.

Every delay does not qualify, but if your situation is serious, don’t just sit stressed and confused. Know your options and take the next step.
