IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE CENTER FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT

The Center for Rural Development Disaster Recovery Center is open and hosting a ton of different organizations that can lend assistance to families affected by the recent tornadoes.

Resources currently available include:

* State of Kentucky
* American Red Cross
* Food Stamps
* Small Business Administration (SBA) for homeowners as well as business loans
* The Salvation Army
* FEMA
* Social Security
* Congressman Hal Rogers Mobile Office
* The VA has an RV set up in the parking lot. They will only stay as long as there are veterans who come to see them. They can assist with all aspects of veterans affairs paperwork, etc.
* The USDA has dropped off flyers in case any farmers need help with rebuilding their farms that got damaged.
* The UAW dropped off a sign-up sheet for any of its members who need assistance.
* Vital Records will be at The Center today to obtain documents such as Birth Certificates, Marriage Licenses, Adoption paperwork, etc. They will sit at the table next to Social Security, who is doing a lot of the same thing with finding lost documents for people.

Although our office was in the middle of the tornado zone, it doesn’t appear to have been hit.

Meet our new receptionist! Aside from being my daughter, Jolene is a student at Somerset High School, a member of DECA, The National Honor Society, and the Rho Kappa Honor Society. When she isn’t working in our office she is working at the Somerset Alumni Center, dog sitting or baby sitting.

Brittany and I have needed an extra hand for a while. We may be a little biased, but we think that she will do a great job handling tasks that are within her scope which will free us up to better handle the things that are within ours.

Jolene will be working part time this summer and co-oping throughout the school year. Primarily, she can assist you with:

•Billing and payments
•Gathering quote info and
•Providing ID cards and documents.

She will not be able to answer policy related questions, so please bare with her as she connects you to Brittany or I.

We look forward to the changes she will bring to the office and hope you’ll enjoy working with her as much as we do!

We hope you haven’t sustained damage, but if you have, we’re happy to help! We advise that you contact us directly to open claims. We love our contractors and their effort to expedite claims. We recommend that they don’t open claims directly with the carrier.

Your local agent knows you and your situation best. We can review your deductibles, coverage and your claims history to help you make educated decisions. We can also help mediate claims between you and your carrier.

I feel the need to warn everyone of the potentially destructive wind that are likely tomorrow. Weather models are estimating wind gust over 70 mph. You need to take appropriate action to prepare for tomorrow. There will be power outages during this time so everyone needs to prepare for this type of situation. TO UNDERSTAND THIS MAP...EVERYONE IS GOING TO GET HIGH WINDS TOMORROW EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE A COUPLE OF LOCATIONS 30 MPH. EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE WEATHER AWARE TOMORROW.
