Continuation of the Home Paintings VS Museum Paintings explanation: The Home Paintings are like small visual songs, while the Museum Paintings are composites like major visual concertos or symphonies. The "Pre-dawn" series are Home Paintings and "Martyrs" would be a Museum Painting.

People frequently are unclear as to what my paintings are about and why. Over the decades the work falls into two main groups: Home Paintings and Museum Paintings.
Home Paintings are usually smaller direct single focus perceptions or moods of painted subjects and the Museum Paintings are usually larger composites of perceptions, feelings or moods brought together into one visual world. Both are about expressing feelings through the subject not just visual description. Often being selective about description aids expressiveness - as it has for centuries.

Started working on white surfaces again. Always laid in mood color underpainting first, now, after decades of not wanting to begin painting on that impressionist/post-impressionist pristine white surface - it seems so inviting again. Feels kinda like the higher octaves of the oboe, or more likely it is probably the inevitable reaction to all the white stuff around - Wintertime Lake Affect... good name for the Series.
