It’s Fair Week in our hometown!

The Murray County Fair is happening Tuesday, August 11 through Saturday, August 15 right here in Slayton!

Fair week is all about community. It’s about grabbing a meal at the Murray County Pork Producers Stand, Cattlemen’s Stand, Dairy Stand or 4-H Eat Stand — and knowing that when you support them, you’re also supporting the local farmers, producers, families and volunteers behind them. It’s one more way our fair brings agriculture and our community together.

It’s also about the people who fill the barns and exhibit buildings — the 4-H kids who have spent months working with their animals and projects, the FFA members who bring agriculture to life with animals and the birthing center in the FFA Barn, and the 4-H and Open Class exhibitors who proudly share their talents and hard work.

Take some time this week to walk through the barns, check out the exhibits, cheer on the kids, enjoy some great food and visit with friends and neighbors.

And that’s just the beginning — this year’s schedule is packed with plenty more to see and do!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is taking steps to support America’s farmers in response to ongoing challenges across the agricultural sector. To ease financial pressures and strengthen risk management options for American farmers, USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) is announcing temporary premium payment flexibilities and the reinstatement of the option to purchase additional 5% prevented planting coverage.

KDL Insurance is proud to sponsor the Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show and celebrate a tradition that helped build American agriculture.

Long before modern tractors and equipment, draft horses were the backbone of the farm. They plowed fields, hauled crops, and helped generations of farm families make a living from the land. Their strength, reliability, and hard work helped shape the rural communities we know today.
