The newest addition to Claims Associates WC Dept. is Rhonda Ristesund. Rhonda has not only been doing a great job handling claims, she has also continually worked on furthering her education to improve her skills for her job.

Rhonda quickly earned her SDWCS (South Dakota Work Comp Specialist), and has recently earned her WCLA (Workers’ Compensation Claim Law Associate). Her next endeavor is to complete her SCLA (Senior Claim Law Associate).

Born and raised for much of her youth in Sioux Falls, SD, she has had the opportunity to travel a fair amount having also lived in CA, NE and TX. She’s been back in SD for two years and proud to call it home.

Rhonda's past lends valuable experience to her duties as a Workers’ Compensation Adjuster. These include: insurance adjuster for an independent adjusting firm, Trainer/Supervisor, EMT school from Iowa Western Institute, spending time both in an ER and a firehouse.

She credits her mom for the reason she chose adjusting as her career. Her mom has been an adjuster since she was young. Rhonda saw her mom achieve much success through extra education and hard work ethic and that drove Rhonda to want to be the best adjuster and keep moving up within the field. She’s found the right place to pursue that drive with Claims Associates.

When not working, Rhonda likes to stay active and enjoys sports. Her favorite football teams are the Denver Broncos and the Texas Longhorns. She has a 15 year old Pomeranian Terrier.

Claims Associates is happy to announce that as of late 2023, Shaun Peterson joined our Rapid City office as a multi-line adjuster.

Shaun grew up in north central IA, and came to South Dakota to major in Economics and Business at South Dakota State. He then went on to obtain his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls.

In 2021 Shaun and his family made a move to Rapid City, SD. Lucky for Claims Associates, through networking and friends, Shaun is now adjusting claims in Rapid City and the surrounding area. Shaun has also spent some time with our adjusters in Sioux Falls handling claims in that region.

Shaun is married. He and his wife have two teenage boys, who are active in basketball. The family enjoys hiking and being outdoors. Shaun also likes to golf.

Philip Klemond has joined Rehab Associates, the Case Management Division of Claims Associates. Claims Associates recently participated in the 3rd Annual RAS Golf Classic benefiting Kids’ Chance of SD on 8/8/23. The team consisted of Philip Klemond, Jennifer Andrisen Selzler, Mike Jares, Jeff Jares, as well as Karley DeKnikker, a college graduate and recipient of the Kids’ Chance program.

The Center for Active Generations held their 20th annual Gourmet Guys fundraiser April 20, 2023. Chris Madsen, General Counsel and Director of Operations at Claims Associates, teamed up with Eric C. Schulte of Davenport Evans to participate once again. (They’ve won in past years.)

This year they competed in the Main Course category with Jamaican Me Crazy Chicken Tacos – spicy grilled jerk chicken with a light creamy cabbage-lime-roasted pineapple slaw. This was offered with home-made Fire in Your Wire Sauce for those who “needed to kick it up another 5-6 notches”. This creative dish won them the Chef's Judging Award. Congratulations Chris and Eric! Can't wait to see what you serve up next year.
