Here you'll see the North American Scissors lounging in the wild. The North American Scissors has few native predators and enjoys a luxurious lifestyle with a longer than average lifetime within it's office supplies family.

The North American Scissors is however the natural predator of left handers, or so called "Lefty's", of the Homo Sapiens family. This is a struggle that goes back generations and many a lefty has been defeated by these gentle two clawed creatures.

In honor of International Left Handers Day, please provide any lefties in your life the sympathy they deserve and any protection you can give them from these dangerous predators. Share this with a lefty in your life today!

Today is National Book Lover's Day! 📚 We make it a point to take some time on Friday's and do some self reflection and growth. Part of that growth is exploring new ideas through the reading of books!

Janelle just picked up the book "I Am Malala" for an upcoming trip of hers and pictured on the table is Yuval Noah Harari's "Sapiens", a New York Times Bestseller and chronic book list top pick.

Today is Happiness Happens Day. Created by the Secret Society of Happy People 20 years ago, Happiness Happens Day is to remind people to share your happiness openly, it's contagious!

Sometimes we struggle to find and value our happiness and I try to remember to keep it simple. Find happiness like your dog does.

Spend quality time with your people, find pleasure in the small things, and get outside every chance you get!

The Quarter coin as we know it entered circulation today, August 1st, 1932. This is when President George Washington first appeared on the obverse side of the coin, replacing the difficult to mint Standing Liberty design to celebrate the bicentennial of Washington's birth.

Expected to last about 30 years each, modern quarters are just under an inch across with 119 reeds, or edges, along the outside edge to prevent forgery and the shaving of silver from the coin.

Pictured here are various quarters throughout the years.There are four 1974 quarters in this photo, try and find them all. (You may need to view it full sized) The 74's were minted one year before the rarest quarter of all, the illusive 1975 dated quarter. A quarter found with the date 1975 is so rare it's said to be nearly invaluable.

It's National Cheesecake Day! As a fan, nay, connoisseur of cheesecake I can't recommend this holiday enough! Maybe it's Key Lime, Strawberry, Moose Tracks, or the old standby, a good solid piece of plain cheesecake, you should save some room to celebrate Cheesecake Day.

Believe it or not, cheesecake is a desert that traces it's lineage all the way back to ancient Greece! Why don't you find some friends or family to share some with today like the original Olympian's would've wanted you too! You've earned it!

There's no photo trickery or manipulation going on here. The plane you're seeing is the Airbus Beluga XL and it first took flight last year on July 19th, 2018.

This is a (heavily!) modified plane, constructed from parts of several different existing Airbus planes. The striking "whale hump" is then grafted on top. The second photo here is a great illustration of how baby planes are made in Europe, with these fuselage sections being removed from inside the Beluga.

If you'd like me to explain any more about how baby planes are made, we may need to celebrate National Daiquiri Day first. Enjoy Responsibly!

Today would've been Nelson Mandela's 101st Birthday. The Nobel Laureate, and South African President fought against the apartheid in South Africa for much of his life, 27 years of which he was imprisoned. In 2009 the United Nations declared July 18th "Nelson Mandela International Day”.

Interestingly, Nelson wasn't his birth name, nor did he himself choose it. When completing primary school, he was dubbed Nelson by the teachers there, a common practice of giving African children English names. His actual name, Rolihlahla, was largely forgotten to history, and he is oft remembered as Madiba by those who followed him.

This quote reminds us to look not only at our freedom, but the freedom of those around us, for those who sit free at the expense of others, are not truly living in freedom themselves.
