Happy Fall Y'all!

On this day last year, Esmae and I took a leap into the unknown of peewee barrel racing, on a pony named Tator Tot. Today, I can proudly say that the past year has been a remarkable journey of growth and she's doing the pattern all on her own, asking when her mom and I will take her to the next barrel race. I guess I could say the same thing about myself too - the pattern just looks a little different. 365 days ago or so, I started a new chapter filled with challenges and opportunities in a new career. Today, I stand stronger, wiser, and more accomplished, grateful for the people I've met, the lives I've touched, and all the opportunities ahead!

I attended my first ever and took away a few notes I thought I'd share:
Our Keynote Speaker, Alyson Van Hoosier, started by sharing a personal story. Some might think that sharing a story about your favorite teacher at a young professionals' conference is a waste of time but, it proved to be quite the contrary. By opening up and sharing her personal story you could see the audience slowly start to lean in. No one was checking their phone or talking to their neighbor, but listening closely to what Alyson was going to say next. Her speech not only shared the power of being a leader but shared the power of personal connection. These connections seem to be so rare, they are like adding a splash of real-life experience to the business hustle, making everyone a bit more real and relatable, bringing out the true person on the other side of the table.
After hearing Alyson speak and seeing the impact she made, I want to encourage everyone to be a bit more intentional and try to spark a meaningful conversation. Because we can all use a bit more personal connection!

The results are in and what a HUGE impact did everyone make for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Combined, all Kilts for the Kids teams raised over $200,000 for our local Sioux Falls houses!
