🏦 Fed's Impact on Mortgage Rates 🔎

Hot topic…a lot of our realtor partners and clients are asking about the Federal Reserve meeting today, and the impact on mortgage rates. There’s been a lot of misinformation floating around, so I want to clear things up and provide some clarity!

What to Expect: Today the Fed is going to announce a rate cut. The most probable scenario is a reduction of 0.25%, but there’s also a chance it could be 0.50%.

Here’s the Key Point: A Fed rate cut doesn’t automatically translate into an immediate drop in mortgage rates.

Why?

Market Anticipation: The bond market and mortgage rates often adjust in anticipation of the Fed’s decisions. This means that the expected changes are already reflected in current mortgage rates. This is a main reason why we have seen mortgage rates improve over the past few weeks.

Complex Influences: Mortgage rates are influenced by a variety of factors beyond just the Fed’s actions. Economic data, inflation, and investor sentiment all play crucial roles in determining where rates land.

Immediate Impacts: The Fed’s rate cut primarily affects the cost for banks to borrow money. This reduction can lower rates on products like HELOCs, auto loans, and credit cards, but it doesn’t always directly affect mortgage rates.

My father is pretty talented and still has it. I sent him the picture of my weathered and old looking planter boxes. He then builds his own with pavers on the inside and stained beautifully. Only thing I got on him is my grass is better. Looks like I need to get some staining done before winter.
