District 3 Young Farmers is having a Young Farmers Day at the Clay County Fair.

Join us at Grandpa's Barn during the Clay County Fair on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 am - NOON to connect and network with fellow young farmers from across the region.

Attendees can enjoy a complimentary food voucher, redeemable at either the Pork Producers or Cattlemen's Association food stand.

What is the Iowa Farm Bureau's Young Farmer Program?
We connect young farmers from across Iowa to learn, grow, and lead together. Our members (ages 18-35) are full- or part-time farmers, work in the agriculture industry, want to get more involved in agriculture, or are simply passionate about agriculture. If that is you, don't miss this opportunity!

🏆 2026 Northwest Iowa Beyond Expectations Economic Development Support Award
Presented at the Northwest Iowa Development Annual Meeting • Friday, July 31, 2026 • Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, Larchwood

We are proud to recognize Nick Shaffer of 300 Acres, LLC and Suds In The Bucket as a recipient of the 2026 Northwest Iowa Beyond Expectations Economic Development Support Award.

Nick’s commitment to both Osceola and O’Brien Counties is nothing short of extraordinary. Over the past fifteen years, he has grown 300 Acres LLC from a seed dealership into a dynamic, ever‑evolving business that adapts to community needs. As noted in his nomination, “if Nick sees a demand, he will pivot his business strategy to meet it.”

Last year, Nick opened Suds in the Bucket in Hartley after identifying a critical local need — a perfect example of his hands‑on approach to strengthening rural communities. He also played a major role in planning and promoting RAGBRAI’s visit to May City, ensuring riders experienced the best of Osceola County. “Everyone who visited May City that day raved about how wonderful the experience was.”

Most recently, Nick helped launch the first‑ever Entrepreneurs of O’Brien and Osceola Counties “Growing Together” Workshop, volunteering his time as a panelist and offering ongoing support for future entrepreneur programming.

A veteran, Fire Chief, chamber member, volunteer, and tireless community advocate — Nick embodies what it means to go beyond expectations.

Congratulations, Nick, and thank you for your leadership, service, and dedication to Northwest Iowa’s economic growth.
